Análise filogenética de Questidae e Clitellata: o problema da parafilia de "Polychaeta" Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Garraffoni,André R. S.; Amorim,Dalton S..
Hypotheses about the phylogenetic relationships within Questidae, and the relationships of this taxon with Clitellata using parsimony analysis of 35 external and internal morphological characters of 36 terminal taxons are presented. The results show the position of Questidae within Scolecida and Clitellata. Within the Polychaeta, Clitellata is the sister group of the Questidae. The results also indicate that the Scolecida, Microdrilli, Polychaeta, Oligochaeta and Tubificidae are paraphyletic. Clitellata, Megadrilli, Questidae, Hirudinae are monophyletic.

Anatomical and morphometric analysis of a new species of Leitoscoloplos (Annelida: Orbiniidae) with numerous stomach papillae, from the Gulf of California, Eastern Pacific Naturalis
Hernández-Alcántara, P.; Solís-Weiss, V..
from the continental shelf of the Gulf of California lacking thoracic neuropodial hooks confirmed that a new species, Leitoscoloplos multipapillatus, described herein, is present along with Leitoscoloplos panamensis (Monro. 1933), already recorded there. The new species is closely related to L. panamensis, but can be clearly separated from this, and all other species of Leitoscoloplos, by the unique presence of up to 14 stomach papillae per chaetiger. A third taxon was identified, Leitoscoloplos sp., which is morphologically indistinguishable from L. panamensis, except for the presence of 1-2 stomach papillae on 1-2 segments, a feature that although important was not considered significant enough to erect a new species. Morphometric analyses between the...

Bamboewormen in Nederland, met Micromaldane ornithochaeta nieuw voor Nederland (Polychaeta: Maldanidae) Naturalis
Faasse, M.A.; Haaren, T. van.

Cossura yacy sp. nov. (Cossuridae, Annelida) from a tropical Brazilian estuary Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Sousa,Lorena K. S.; Nogueira Júnior,Miodeli; Cutrim,Marco V. J.; Oliveira,Verônica M. de.
ABSTRACT The family Cossuridae is monogeneric for Cossura Webster & Benedict, 1887 which currently has 28 known species, three of which already recorded for Brazilian coast. In the present study we describe Cossura yacy sp. nov. increasing to 29 the number of known Cossuridae species. We have found and analyzed 60 individuals of C. yacy sp. nov. from São Marcos estuarine complex (ca. 02°S; 44°W) around São Luís Harbor (Maranhão, Brazil). It differs from other species of genus also by the presence of the two pairs of nuchal organs at lateral margins of the peristomium, branchial filament in the median region of the third chaetiger and by short and long capillary smooth chaetae with spinulosa on the distal half. These two chaetal types are present...

Die Polychaeten der Amsterdam-Expedition nach der Insel Ascension (Zentral-Atlantik) Naturalis
Hartmann-Schröder, Gesa.
During the Amsterdam Expedition to Ascension Island in 1989 eighteen species of polychaetes were collected, fifteen of which were already known to science. One could not be identified to species level and two were new to science: Aricidea (Aedicira) ascensionensis n. sp. and Notodasus arenicola n. sp. Four of the known species are widely distributed, three are circumtropicalsubtropical and one has a tropical-subtropical distribution in the Pacific and in the Atlantic Ocean. Another species is recorded from different regions in the Atlantic Ocean. The rest of the species were – until now – only known from their type localities, viz. West Indies, Angola, Persian Gulf, Galapagos Islands, and South Shetland Islands.

Dispersal of the invasive tubeworms Desdemona ornata and Pseudopolydora paucibranchiata to the Netherlands (Polychaeta: Sedentaria) Naturalis
Faasse, M.A..
Recently two exotic tubeworms new to the fauna of the Netherlands have been recorded in inshore waters in the delta area: Desdemona ornata and Pseudopolydora paucibranchiata. Within the Polychaeta these worms belong to the group of the Sedentaria. These construct a tube, in which the body of the worm is hidden. The head and feeding appendages protrude from the opening. Most probably these tubes are a major factor in the transport of these animals around the world, as they provide excellent shelters when they are attached to the hull of a ship or commercially traded shellfish.

Distinguishing the genera Apomatus Philippi, 1844 and Protula Risso, 1826 (Polychaeta: Serpulidae). A further Plea for a Methodical approach to Serpulid Taxonomy Naturalis
Hove, H.A. Ten; Pantus, F.J.A.
Ventral thoracic bloodvessel-patterns were defined in a random sample of 152 living specimens of the Apomatus/Protula- complex. Two main patterns and a derived one could be recognized. Eight characters, often used in Serpulid taxonomy and retraceable in preserved material, were determined too: e.g. presence or absence of an operculum and pattern of thoracic setae. These parameters were correlated to the vascular patterns. It was shown that (a) all operculate specimens possess a vascular system of one main pattern; 86% of those closely studied have "Apomatus-setae" at least from setiger 4 onwards; all have radioles with paired rows of compound eyespots. (b) The non-operculate specimens generally possess the other main vascular pattern; the thorax often has...
